Diving To Mind Your Mindset for Merdeka!
Subang Jaya, 28 July 2008 - Merdeka is our shout of independence 51 years ago. It also shouts the need to conserve and protect our marine environment with volunteers who would come together to lay artificial reefs in Pulau Redang come 20 - 22 August 2008. The local rock band, Wings, will be getting wet and wild, laying the reef with the volunteers in conjunction with International Year of the Reef (IYOR) 2008 and our nation's Independence Day, closing the 50th Year of Independence.

Shah Alam - Sejajar dengan sambutan penutupan Hari Kemerdekaan Malaysia ke51 dan Tahun Antarabangsa Terumbu Karang 2008 (IYOR), tiga syarikat skuba iaitu Ed Scuba, Dolphin Sport Adventure dan Trexx Travels bersepakat untuk merencana dan menjayakan "Selam Pemuliharaan Merdeka 2008" yang telah diadakan di Pulau Redang, Terrenganu pada 20 hingga 22 Ogos lalu.

Swim club bags five medals - The
Star DOLPHIN SPORTS, a swimming
club based at the Panasonic
Sport Centre in Shah Alam, is
encouraged with its impressive members' turnout at the Selangor Age
Group swimming championships held
at the Darul Ehsan Aquatic Centre in
Shah Alam recently. In the three-day championships,
the club, which had registered 73 participants, won five bronze medals.
And coach L.B. Lee had reason to be
happy as all the medal winners were
taking part in a competition for the
first time.

the challenges in age group competitions.
Dolphin Sports coach L.B. Lee
said after almost five years in existence, the trainees from the
swimming club would be taking
part in the Selangor Age Group
championships at the Darul Ehsan
Aquatic Centre in Shah Alam on
Jan 25-27.

In a whole new world via
scuba diving - The
Star MEOR Khairi Mohd
Said has no regrets about
taking up scuba diving three
years ago. The underwater
hobby is now his way of
relaxing. “It’s
an interesting activity that
gives me the feeling of being
in another world,” he
said when met after a diving
training session at the
Panasonic Sports Centre in
Shah Alam. As an employee of
the sports centre, Meor
Khairi was used to seeing
people training in the sport
at the centre’s pool.

Scuba Diving to watch
fishes - The Star
IT WAS her admiration of and
fascination with fish that
prompted Irene Lian to
venture
into scuba diving.Today,
after six months of training,
the 23-yearold Lian has
successfully completed
scuba-diving stints off Pulau
Redang, Pulau Tioman and
Pulau Perhentian.
And, the jovial lass is
looking forward to more
underwater adventure in
Phuket and Sipadan next year.
Lian said it was curiosity
that motivated her to attend
a scuba-diving course.

Big turnout for swimming
meet - The Star
THE three-day Selangor age
group championships, starting
at the Darul Ehsan Aquatic
Centre in Shah Alam tomorrow,
has attracted 438 swimmers,
including a contingent
of nine from Uzbekistan.
Selangor coach Ong Jin Koon
said they were delighted with
the response from clubs in
the Klang Valley. Dolphins
Sports will be making their
debut in the championships.
Dolphins Sports, who are
based at the Matsushita
Sports Centre (MSC) in Shah
Alam, have several promising
swimmers.

Responder
A child of about 12 years old
standing at the edge of the
shallow end of the pool
looking at a submerged child
who was face down on the
bottom. Then, with the
assistance
of Ng and their colleague Lee
Boon Leong, checked for
responsiveness. Lee took the
lead and, after finding no
obvious signs of life,
alerted EMS. He then opened
the airway and began rescue
breathing and CPR. It was
confirmed later that day that
the child recovered and was
in a stable condition.

Quartet impress in
swimming meet - The
Star
FOUR swimmers – Tan Su
Ee, Lim Yan Li, Wong Kok
Hoong and Low Bing Shium were
named best performers in the
recent Dolphin Care Swimming
Club inaugural age group
swimming championships. The
half-day event, held at the
Matsushita Sports Complex,
drew 400 swimmers.

Taking to it like duck on
water - The Star
SWIMMING has become an
enjoyable activity for pupils
from SK Seksyen 9, Shah Alam.
Forty of these pupils have
signed up as members of the
school’s swimming club.
The school's co-curriculum
senior assistant Ong Eng Too
said, the pupils aged nine to
12, were currently training
at the Panasonic Sports
Centre in Shah Alam. Their
instructors are from Dolphin
Sports, based at the centre
with B.L Lee as chief
instructor.
